Clearing a few things up

After looking back on my post I realize the profile with color is a bit hard to see. So I included just the pencil drawing for clarity reasons.
Also, referring to my previous post on the topic of his beard. There's no question he will have a beard. Upon further research I've come across the fact the Gnomes and Dwarfs commonly get mistaken for the other. The fact is that Dwarfs do not have beards or facial hair, ever. Gnomes, however, always have beards once they reach the age at which they can grow facial hair...granted, we're talking about male Gnomes. The other, extremely obvious, fact is that Dwarfs are typically 1 meter and 20 cm in heigth or just under 4 feet tall. Gnomes in comparison are quite small, barely reaching a heigth of of 15cm...or just under 6 inches.

Preproduction - Film 2

So here are some sketches of my character for my second film. The one on the left in color is the final design. The colors are not final, but are merely there for a sample...their your typical Gnome colors. The other heads in the image were drawings that I came up with which inspired the final look. I've left out his beard because I'm still in the process of deciding how I want it to look and whether or not he'll have one.

I'm currently in the process of modeling this character. He is probably 65% modeled. I finished modeling his head and cap as well as most of his torso. I'll be attaching his arms, legs, feet and modeling his utility belt and then you can expect to see a model of him. There are two characters in the story. The second character is currently on hold as I am in the process of rethinking the story.

I'm planning on using the book, "Stop Staring, 2nd edition" by Jason Osipa as the base of creating all the facial animation and possibly some of the animation for the body.

Crits welcome.

One Small Step...

It's been awhile since I last posted, it has been a busy couple of weeks. Graduation was this past Saturday. :) It was great. Now it's back to the grindstone. This picture is awesome. My family had gotten ahold of one of my "leave behinds" that I had made for some interviews and used a picture from it for my cake...how sweet is that. Never thought I'd see a character of mine on a cake about to be devoured. Hope you enjoy the pic.

On a side note I'm currently modeling a new character in Maya. It's a character for my next short. Expect some art up soon regarding that and expect some pics of the model soon.

Photoshop Sketch

So I was given a very large tablet at Jim Henson to use at my desk...I've never used one so large so I had to do a sketch on it to appreciate the extra drawing room. Here's a random creature I drew and colored in about 20 minutes.
