New Website along with updates

I just finished my dads company website. You can check it out here:

http://www.todayswindowsanddoors.com

Along with that are a bunch of updates on things. First off I've recently started taking a Tai Chi class with my girlfriend which is something I've wanted to do for a long time and am so glad I'm learning it now. I believe it will be something I'll incorporate into the rest of my life. And to show my appreciation is a picture of Timmy in the latest pose we learned last Saturday:

On top of that I'm nearly finished texturing my Gnome. The only thing on him remaining to be textured is his hands. As soon as that's finished I'll be posting images. I'm doing something I haven't done before which is to have textures at multiple resolutions to use based on how close the gnome is to the camera. The other thing I'm doing is making multiple textures due to events that take place in the story that cause the textures to change through time.

I'm still working on the 3d fire. I'm in the process of creating a larger more camp-like fire with embers that will emit from it as well as some smoke. Along with that I'll be adding logs and rocks around the fire with a ground underneath to test the whole fire comp so that when it comes time to put it in the gnome environment there won't be any second guessing.

With that I'm also in the process of redesigning the environments for the Gnome project by creating dozens of thumbnails for each shot and then painting larger versions in painter (no more than 20 minutes to a shot) to help me establish composition as well as color and mood.

Once I'm happy with the thumbnail images I'm planning on starting the modeling of the establishing shots as well as the first few shots in the film. I'm very anxious to get started on that.

I've been submitting Grim Fetch to festivals and will post more about those once I determine it's acceptance or the lack thereof.

More to come soon. I'll probably post some of the thumbnails I've been working on soon.

Sup,

Thanks for the help with the comic. You're doing a lot of stuff! That's great. You'll have to tell me about the Tai Chi class. I should try to take a Kendo class or something while I'm over here. Anyways, the Gnome project stuff sounds very interesting. I can't wait to see it. Seen any movies lately?

Oh and I like the website. It's very clean and easy to navigate. Good job.

Thanks guys!

Sheldon - Thanks for the compliments. Oddly enough I usually feel like I'm not doing enough. It sounds like your just as busy though. I'm anxious to see your latest animation finalized...it's looking real good. It's really motivating me.

MattyB - Hey man, no problem. I'll email you about what's going on with the Tai Chi. A kendo class would be awesome. Or even something like Aikido. I haven't seen any new movies lately...that I can remember. I did buy a couple of dvds though...The Triplets of Bellville and Iron Giant...both are really good. Triplets is a bit random but I liked it. Iron Giant is Brad Birds 1st film I believe...I really liked it. I bought another DVD called Reel Talent...it has a bunch of first films from famous Directors like George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis and Richard Bare and a few others. It's cool cause their showing you that you don't typically start off a film genius. It takes time and many films to get better...which is good to see. It's kind of neat too cause you can see what some of the directors were doing in college that they still utilize today.

Thanks about the website. I think I'm going to try and learn Flash. I'll probably start with the Site for Grim Fetch since it will have less content. I was figuring out comp ideas last night for it.

Any word on your flash animation for your website?
