It's.......Tad!

After some tutorials and problem solving I've managed my way through Mental Ray. It defintately presents interesting dilemas that are not typical of using the maya software renderer. I'm happy with the look. My next step now that I've used Mental Ray for the first time and Sub-Surface Scattering...I will now make my way onto the techniques in the book, "Stop Staring: 2nd Edition".
Comments, crits welcome.

Hey John, sorry about the vulgar comment. Let me fix. I think the Tad is quite exquisite and and robust with texture goodness. Cool Stuff. Also, yes, I did mean hippie...(shut up)

haha, thanks for the comment.

Hi John. I think you've created a very appealing character (of the grumpy but still huggable variety). I like his pushed proportions...and like Chris said he's chock-full of "texture goodness."

Thanks Megan,

I'm happ to hear people be fond of Tad...he seems to be growing on people. I'm hoping to have him rigged soon. I'm glad the texture is impressive...I was trying to keep up my texturing skills with Tad. :)

I love him!! I think he's grumpy because his head is so big. :^) Great design!

Thank you!

Hopefully he'll be talking soon.

Heya,

Thanks for the comment about the picture I made. I updated it, so if you get a chance take a look. I think the updated one looks better, because it is less 'wrinkly/blotchy' looking. Basically I just put it in painter and used a blender to smooth things out.

Anyways, I did the face/hair in one sitting and the clothes/background in another sitting. Took longer than it should have but hopefully I'll get faster as time goes by. Anyways, can't wait to see some more of your stuff when you finish. Peace!

Thanks Mac! haha saying that makes me feel like I'm on Macgyver. I really like this character too. What's funny is that I drew him as a messy little sketch that I didn't think would turn into anything more...but I decided to pick a sketch at random and turn it into 3d. It was fun, perhaps I should do it again.
